Ready to climb and belay with confidence? Our 2-hour "Learn to Belay" class is designed to teach you the essential skills to belay a climbing partner in a controlled environment. Rope climbers must pass our belay certification test prior to top rope climbing (the tall walls). We are dedicated climbing facilities with Top Rope Climbing, Lead Climbing, Bouldering, and Auto-Belays in each of our facilities. Top Rope Top rope climbing happens on the taller walls, where the climber ties into a climbing rope that goes to the top of the wall, through an anchor system, and back to a belayer, who manages the rope with a belay device. Touchstone Climbing will issue a belay card and allow climbers to retain the belaying privileges only if the individual demonstrates the following safety items at all times: Belay Test: Anyone planning to belay in our gyms must pass our belay test. 9 or above before you are able to take a lead test. Top Rope and Lead Belay tests must be taken at the start of your visit, and can be requested at check-in. Belay tests must be retaken every academic year.
